Daniel transforms architectural challenges into community-centered solutions through a collaborative approach that elevates both project outcomes and team performance. His extensive work in higher education, K-12, civic, and justice projects has taught him that every design opportunity requires a new perspective—even when working with familiar partners. Daniel develops floor plans, massing, and exteriors simultaneously, using digital and physical models in workshops so partners can visualize and shape their spaces as designs evolve.

Listening to all stakeholders early in the design process anchors Daniel’s work. He believes successful architecture emerges from balancing specific building needs with broader campus context and community goals. The best designs, he demonstrates, result from coordinated team engagement rather than individual direction. Daniel particularly enjoys high-stakes presentation moments, finding fulfillment in unveiling initial designs to executive committees where partner aspirations meet architectural interpretation.

Daniel champions emerging talent while continuing to learn from every project and collaboration. He guides team members by identifying their natural strengths and interests, believing this leads to more productive partnerships. His deliberate engagement of colleagues at key project milestones ensures the entire team works efficiently toward shared objectives.

Beyond the office, Daniel’s creative process extends into daily observation through sketching, exploring cities and campuses, and studying how spaces affect human behavior. He examines why certain areas make people comfortable or encourage them to pause, recognizing the psychological power of the built environment. This observational practice informs his belief that architecture unifies communities by creating places for learning, working, and living—spaces where chance encounters often matter more than the programmed functions themselves.

Clemson University, Forestry and Environmental Conservation Building

Southern Yellow Pine and advanced mass timber construction shape Clemson University's Forestry and Conservation building, where research laboratories and flexible learning spaces integrate with an outdoor teaching landscape. Students experience sustainable design principles through the structure itself while studying in a living laboratory that extends from classrooms to forest paths.
