Williamsburg Police Station
Williamsburg invested in the future of public safety by constructing a new, modern police headquarters designed to meet the growing needs of the department and the community it serves. Originally built in 1978, the existing police facility had become outdated and overcrowded, limiting operational efficiency and community access. This transformative project delivered a modern, purpose-built space that reflects the Williamsburg Police Department’s mission: to provide a safe environment where all people can live, work, and thrive through trust, transparency, and proactive community policing.
Located in the heart of Williamsburg, the police station enhances visibility, accessibility, and engagement between officers and residents. The three-story building, nestled into the landscape with a lower-level set underground, features secure parking, a detainee sally port, and specialized areas for vehicle and evidence storage.
Upper floors house essential departmental functions, including evidence processing, administrative and operational offices, interview and training rooms, and modern fitness and locker facilities. The department also incorporates community meeting spaces to foster stronger partnerships and dialogue with residents.
The facility’s design integrates into the historic character of downtown Williamsburg while presenting a distinctive and modern identity for the police department aiming to telegraph a symbol of safety, service, and innovation.
