What attracted you to this profession?

I’m an architectural engineer, which I learned was a career only because a high school drafting teacher realized I had drafting and math skills and helped me research different college majors. I love solving problems and understanding how things work. Architectural engineering combined my love of buildings with my logical and pragmatic thought process.

What three words would you use to describe your job?

Unique, creative, and ever-changing

What are the most important personality traits to have in your profession?

Constantly learning (never settle for what you already know), open to different ideas (another perspective might solve the problem or produce better ideas), and problem solving are key!

What’s a typical week in your job like?

There isn’t a typical week, which I love, but I usually tackle a project or two, develop educational materials, assist with decarbonization goals, work on proposals, and answer any energy or asset management questions that come up.

What do you like most about your job?

Providing specialized help to clients. Energy and asset management are unique areas, but they have a huge impact on a client’s long-term success. I love helping a client develop a plan and goals for the future.

What’s the most challenging part of your job?

Helping everyone understand exactly what I do.

What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now?

It’s a tie between reworking a school system’s facility condition assessment so it is executable, and developing energy goals for Moseley as a firm.

What have you accomplished at Moseley Architects that you’re proudest of?

Starting asset management as a dedicated service!

What’s your favorite thing to do outside of work?

Sleep comes to mind first, but I love exploring national parks with my spouse and son the most.

What music are you listening to right now?

Taylor Swift—it’s almost always her—either in a playlist or an entire album.

What’s your favorite film?

Atomic Blonde or Pitch Perfect

What’s the best gift you’ve ever received?

My son randomly wrote me a letter telling me how much he loved me.

What’s your motto or mantra?

“Always plan for the worst.” We’re a military family, so if you plan for the worst, you’re either prepared when it happens or relieved when it’s not as bad.
