What attracted you to this profession?
For all of my life I have enjoyed creating, building, and improving anything that can be constructed.
What three words would you use to describe your job?
Creative, meticulous, and precise
What are the most important personality traits to have in your profession?
Being perseverant and committed to solving problems.
What’s a typical week in your job like?
I’m creating structural drawings, details, and calculations, and administering structural coordination with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and plumbing designers. I’m also working with contractors and inspectors during construction, and reviewing and solving structural problems as they arise.
What’s it like to work in your office?
It is nice to work alongside a group of creative people who don’t quit until the job is complete.
What do you like most about your job?
I like having the ability to be creative and produce top quality designs.
What’s the most challenging part of your job?
Schedules and deadlines.
How does your work benefit from our firm’s interdisciplinary approach to design?
We have the ability to interact with all other disciplines in person to discuss and achieve the most desirable designs.
What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now?
Virginia Tech’s new business building
What have you accomplished at Moseley that you’re proudest of?
I’m most proud of the successful completion of the Virginia Tech Data and Decision Sciences Building.
What’s your favorite thing to do outside of work?
I enjoy attending James Madison University college football games with my wife and oldest daughter to watch my youngest daughter as a JMU cheerleader.
